SaaS delivers cost savings in tough times
A new survey of IT infrastructure plans by the National Computing Centre (NCC) has shown that software as a service (SaaS) is proving increasingly popular as the recession bites into IT budgets. Thirty (30) percent of companies say SaaS is important or very important to their future plans while 22 percent of respondents recognise online Infrastructure services (cloud computing) as a key issue.
The research was undertaken by NCC's Evaluation Centre, an interactive online service guiding IT buyers in the selection and use of business software, services and technology and took in responses from more than 100 companies across various sectors, with turnovers of between £5m and £5bn.
Commenting on the research, Susan Spence, Group Director of SoftCo commented “IT budgets are coming under severe pressure, making the flexibility of the SaaS model increasingly attractive.”
